Utah Center for Aeronautical Innovation & Design (UCAID)

WPM is directly affiliated with the Utah Center for Aeronautical Innovation & Design (UCAID) through a technology commercialization grant from the Utah Science Technology and Research initiative (USTAR).  UCAID, based at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, comprehensively serves the nation’s aviation and aerospace industries by conducting contracted applied scientific and engineering research for aviation industry partners and their clients.  USTAR is a long-term, state-funded investment focused on bolstering the commercialization of emerging technologies through collaboration with Utah’s state universities.

Ron Carter – Industrial Design

Ron Carter is WPM’s academic partner at UCAID.  A creative thinker and problem solver, Ron brings over 25 years of product design experience to UCAID.  Ron owned Metropolis Design, an industrial design and rapid prototyping firm located in North Salt Lake, Utah for 18 years.  Ron sold the business in 2007 and joined UCAID in November 2008.  Ron has a BFA in Industrial Design from Brigham Young University.

Metropolis Design

WPM’s prototyping partner, Metropolis Design (“Met”), has been providing rapid prototyping services since 1989. Their expertise and facilities provide fast turnaround through the use of advanced prototyping techniques.  Met has assisted WPM through the use of advanced methodologies including 3D Printing, Stereolithography (“SLA”) Machines, and CNC Machining.
